SSI’s Storytelling and Film-making Workshop program culminates this month with a showcase of short films.
On November 14, SSI friends, staff, volunteers and clients are invited to a special screening of films made by SSI’s asylum seeker clients during the six-week workshop program.

The workshops were an initiative of SSI’s Arts & Culture program and were facilitated by the western Sydney-based digital and community arts organisation Curious Works. The workshop program’s aims were to provide opportunities for asylum seekers to tell their stories in their own voice, while developing skills in media. Participants learnt new communications skills, interview techniques and digital media recording and editing skills.
The resulting short films of between two and three minutes each are inspiring and powerful. Come along to share these stories and enjoy the food and music on offer.
