Privacy at SSI Group
Changes to the Australian federal privacy legislation came into effect on 12 March 2014 to enhance and harmonise the law regulating the protection of the privacy of individuals. The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) comprises 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) which apply to private sector organisations including Settlement Services International Limited (SSI) and its subsidiary entities (collectively, SSI Group). You can find out more information about these principles by calling the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner on 1300 363 992 or through their website at www.oaic.gov.au.
SSI Group respects and upholds your rights to privacy protection under the APPs in regulating how we collect, use, disclose and hold your personal information. Only authorised staff have access to your personal information which remains confidential and is only used for appropriate purposes.
This policy applies to SSI, Access Community Services Limited, Access Community Enterprises Limited, Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre Limited and Multicultural Centre for Mental Health & Well Being Limited.
NSW Privacy Management Plan
Further, SSI has developed a Privacy Management Plan, which addresses more specifically how SSI deals with information under NSW privacy laws, namely, the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW), and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW).
