Advancing the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
At SSI, we are committed to advancing the rights of people with disability in line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). We promote, protect and uphold the full and equal enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms, recognising the inherent dignity, autonomy and diversity of all people with disability.
Through our services, sector advocacy, partnerships and community engagement, we work alongside people with disability, families and communities to remove barriers, challenge discrimination, influence systemic change, and create opportunities for full and meaningful participation in all aspects of life. We are committed to fostering inclusion, self-determination, choice and control, ensuring that people with disability are empowered to make decisions about their own lives and have their voices heard in the policies, services and systems that affect them.
We believe that people with disability are experts in their own lives. Their lived experience informs our work and helps shape more inclusive communities where everyone can exercise their rights, realise their aspirations, and participate equally in social, cultural, economic and civic life.
