Why are you no longer accepting applications to the Home Care Workforce Support Program (HCWSP)?

Applications for the Home Care Workforce Support Program (HCWSP) ended on 31 March 2024, as directed by our funders.

As an organisation, we remain committed to working with the aged care sector with a particular focus on sector development and training. We look forward to continuing to work together with the wider industry and government to support the aged care and home care industry and workers.

I was in the middle of the participant journey – will you support me all the way to a job?

HCWSP entered a new phase on 31 March when applications for the program ended and our team is now focused on supporting and training existing participants.

After 31 March, we no longer offer support with placing people into a job but offer a full range of training and support to existing program participants to help prepare for a long-term meaningful career caring for Australia’s seniors.

Enjoy free access to support and training until 30 June 2024 to maximise your ability to build a long-term, meaningful career in the aged care sector.

What support is available after 31 March for HCWSP participants?

Existing participants can access various free support and training offerings until 30 June. Please visit our Training and Support pages for more details or contact your Participant Services Delivery Officer for more information.

Home Care Staffing Support with Hireup

Who is Hireup?

Hireup is Australia’s largest NDIS-registered platform of support workers. On Hireup, people with disabilities, their families and support teams can find, hire and manage support workers suited to their needs.

Service providers can access Hireup for Providers to solve their staffing challenges as an alternative to using agency labour.

What is the Home Care Staffing Support?

As part of HCWSP, SSI engaged Hireup to help overcome the skills shortage in the at-home aged care sector in NSW and the ACT by launching the new Home Care Staffing Support initiative.

This initiative helps home care providers boost their workforce by connecting them with verified support workers while saving them 50% of wages for eligible workers.

What will happen to the Home Care Staffing Support rebate with Hireup after 31 March 2024?

The Home Care Staffing Support rebate will be available for eligible home care providers until 30 June 2024 for hiring workers via Hireup who are registered participants of HCWSP. This means the 50% wage subsidy only applies to staff who registered for HCWSP before 31 March 2024.
