SSI’s Multicultural Gambling Harm Prevention Services (MGHP) offer a variety of free services for individuals and families experiencing negative effects from gambling.
Our services are offered throughout Victoria and include:
- 1:1 counselling
- Referral support
- Online, mobile, and in-person group therapy
- Alternative therapeutic services
- Community information and therapy sessions
Culturally informed therapeutic services
MCFPS is designed to support individuals from multicultural backgrounds and communities in-language.
Our services aim to support community members from migrant, refugee, and multicultural backgrounds to overcome the negative effects of gambling.
MCFPS considers the whole individual. It addresses problematic gambling behaviours and uses culturally aware planning to meet participants’ full needs. Cultural aware planning includes the promotion of a participant’s connection to culture, religion, language, and community.
Although our services are tailored to support the specific needs of culturally and linguistically diverse individuals, the program caters to all individuals experiencing gambling harm.
MCFPS is delivered by SSI with funding and support from the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation.
