About Conversations for Prevention

Conversations for Prevention is a primary prevention project delivered through SSI’s NSW Multicultural Centre for Women’s and Family Safety (the Adira Centre) in Coffs Harbour.

Working in partnership with trained bilingual Community Facilitators and the community, this place-based project is developing conversation guides and other resources to promote community conversations about healthy, equal relationships and to challenge the condoning of gender-based violence.

Recognising that communities hold the knowledge and experience to lead culturally sensitive conversations promoting safety and equity, the project aims to challenge stigma and shame, and amplify the voices of people from refugee communities who are often missing from prevention dialogues.

Conversations for Prevention is supported by the Department of Communities and Justice through the NSW Primary Prevention Multi-Year Partnerships (MYP) Grants Program.
