World of Cultures School Activity
Many Cultures, One Community
World of Cultures takes place on the traditional lands of Yagara and Yugambeh in the heartland of Logan City – one of Australia’s most multicultural cities! To celebrate Logan’s multicultural heritage and diversity, we are asking school kids of all ages to reflect on what makes them happy about living in Logan by developing a poem, written word or artwork on why I love my town.
- Using the thought clouds or speech bubbles, create an artwork or written piece on “Why I love my Town”. Be as creative as you like!
- Cut out the speech bubble or thought cloud and bring it with you to the World of Cultures event on 24 August, where they will be displayed within the Kingston Butter Factory for all to admire.

Anisa Nandaula MC
We’re excited to announce we have the incredibly gifted poet and comedic talent, Anisa Nandaula, as the official host of World of Cultures 2024.
Anisa Nandaula was born in Kampala, Uganda and moved to Australia at the age of 8. Through growing up in Australia, Anisa noticed the obvious distinctions between the first-world country she was growing up in and the third-world country she was born into. The gross difference in living standards was what sparked her passion for social justice and this passion motivated her to use her voice to articulate her thoughts.
Cutting her teeth through spoken word, Anisa won the 2016 Queensland Poetry Slam and was runner-up in the Australia Poetry Slam Championships, then took what she learned to break into comedy in 2020.
As a published poet, she has toured the country with her debut poetry collection, Melanin Garden, and performed on some of the largest stages in the world such as the Woodford Folk Festival, Splendour in the Grass and the Sydney Opera House.
Through her unique point of view and experiences, Anisa is fuelling a fresh new perspective and bringing it to local audiences and beyond.
