Ignite industry expertsThe Ignite Small Business Start-ups Initiative facilitates small business creation for people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds, and people with disability, who want to start their own business or expand an existing one. Ignite Industry experts support Ignite entrepreneurs with identified specific industry and business skills. Industry experts guide, inform, advise and support the entrepreneur to create networks and links in their particular sector.

Housing assistants work with the Humanitarian Settle Program team to support refugees as they settle into their On Arrival Accommodation, find, secure and settle into their Long Term Accommodation. Volunteers will be asked to provide language support (Arabic, Farsi, Karenni or Burmese) and to assist clients to feel comfortable in their homes during an incredibly important phase of their settlement journey.

Paz Roman smiling to camera.At 17, Paz Roman was nominated as Young Australian of the Year, mostly for her volunteer work. Ironically, she wasn’t an Australian. She came here from Chile as a refugee with her family when she was just a baby, and despite living in Australia since then, she struggled with the idea of becoming a citizen.
