Asylum Seeker Employment Skills Support (ASESS)
Supporting people seeking asylum in finding work
About ASESS
People who arrive in Australia on humanitarian visas often face major barriers in finding and retaining meaningful employment. The NSW government’s Asylum Seeker Employment Skills Support (ASESS) provides support to make it easier for people seeking asylum to join the workforce.
Funded by the NSW Department of Education, SSI delivers ASESS across several locations in Sydney. We help participants to develop their desired career paths and provide them with the tools required to gain sustainable and skilled employment.
How we help
1. We identify vocational and non-vocational barriers and work with employers, community organisations and stakeholders to meet the participant’s needs.
2. We provide culturally sensitive services.
3. Assistance is tailored to the participant’s personal circumstances, skills, abilities and aspirations.
