ugee Week is Australia’s peak annual activity to raise awareness about the issues affecting refugees and celebrate the positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society. 

During Refugee Week we: 

  • reflect on the needs faced by millions of people forced from their homes 
  • come together to celebrate the courage of refugees resettling in Australia 
  • recognise the generous acts of welcome displayed to refugees by so many caring Australians

Northern Settlement Services  

The Home exhibition brings together the works of two projects, PhotoVoices (2019) and Yaama Ngura (2021), and shares powerful stories of refugees, new arrivals and established migrant communities living on the Central Coast. The stories share experiences of adversity, strength and cultural diversity, creating a place which is inclusive and welcoming for everyone in the community.

  • Newcastle Unity in Diversity World Food and Music Festival 
    The family friendly Newcastle: Celebrating Unity in Diversity Festival will be held on Saturday, June 19, 11am -3pm at Foreshore Park, Newcastle.
