Masks or face coverings will be compulsory from Thursday in Melbourne and Mitchell Shire and visits to aged care homes restricted across Victoria after the state recorded 363 new cases of coronavirus on Sunday.

There are concerns a second wave could hit NSW harder than it has in Victoria after 18 new cases were recorded on Sunday. Four additional cases connected to Batemans Bay Soldiers Club were reported late on Sunday, bringing the size of that cluster – which is separate to the south-west Sydney cluster – to eight.
